About the Gulfstream G280

The Gulfstream G280 is a super-midsize business jet that entered service in 2012 as the successor to the G200, developed with Israel Aerospace Industries and completed by Gulfstream in Savannah, Georgia. It combines class-leading range and speed for its category with a flat-floor cabin, large windows, and the PlaneView 280 avionics suite. Gulfstream ended G280 production in 2024-2025, replacing it in the current lineup with the G300.

Who charters it

Charter clients pick the G280 for coast-to-coast US missions and longer regional hops that don't require a large-cabin jet; strong short-field and high-altitude-airport performance also opens up smaller regional fields other super-midsize aircraft can't reach.

Colorado mountain airports: capable

Known as one of the best hot-and-high performers in the super-midsize class, with operator sources citing service into Aspen, Eagle and even Telluride where other types in its class struggle. ASE and EGE are routine with normal seasonal caveats; treat TEX as payload-restricted and condition-dependent since the supporting claims come from operator marketing rather than airport data.

Planning guidance only. The operator, the AFM performance data, and conditions on the day are the final authority.
